Takin' 5 | Hanging out with Felicity Brazil

Here at TL HQ we’re inspired by passionate people who follow their dreams and especially help others along their way. Meet Felicity Brazil aka “Flick” who inspires us in every which way but particularly with her forever positive attitude and endless smiling face.

After working for over 20 years for Australian companies, KPMG nationally and internationally and the Australian government helping small to medium businesses grow and increase profitability Flick stepped up and started her own business ‘Strong Into Superb’ all whilst getting her OM on and studying meditation.

Tell us about yourself and what you do?

I have a passion, desire and drive to making businesses successful and improving the wellbeing of society.

I’ve always been focused on how to make things better.  My business name – Strong Into Superb – is a play on my love of maximizing opportunities and helping people and businesses see possibilities they didn’t know existed and reaching their goals … inspiring, transforming, and making them strong both as a person and as a business.  I’m just as likely to talk about a person’s wellbeing at the same time as discussing their business’ wellbeing.

I work with people who want to start a business and are seeking advice on how to do so and set it up for success.

I also with business owners identifying how their business could be strengthened so they can achieve the success they want.  I do this by learning about their business, observing how it operates, identifying improvements to make (e.g. putting in place processes, updating websites, introducing new products/services, improving the pricing structure, refining the business model, setting goals and key performance indicators, budgeting and financial reporting to name a few), and working with them to make the improvements and create a culture of continuous improvement.

I also work with fabulous non-profit organisations too!

Advice for anyone wanting to start up their own business?

Start a business based on your passion, work out how it is going to fit in with your life, get a business partner if possible, do the market research, be clear about what is in it for a potential customer, create your business model, be absolutely realistic with your wholesale and retail pricing and ensure that they cover all the overheads to run the business … and go for a ride and just do it!.  Remember that failing is just a first attempt at learning.  You beginning a business you may feel like you are ‘failing’ a lot – do it quickly and move forward again.

While you are still employed elsewhere is the perfect time to refine your business model and strategy, map out the direction that your business should be taking, set goals for your business to succeed, and get professional advice on setting up a business … it will save and make you money in the long run.
