Bulletproof coffee .. not your average latte

Butter in your morning coffee? Might not sit well with the coffee elitist but could bulletproof coffee take over the morning green smoothie in 2016? Building up an army of strong followers over in the States, in cafes and within the paleo crew this drink is popular as a meal replacement in the mornings. 

What is it?

Basically it’s a high quality coffee bean (you could probably use any coffee) and MTC’s (medium chain triglycerides) usually butter and coconut oil blended together. It’s not just your average butter or oil though. To mash up a bulletproof you have to use high quality grass fed butter and it’s the high quality conjugated linoleic acid in the butter and coconut oil that helps speed up fat burning and helps reduce belly fat.

The committed drinkers say that there is increased energy, focus and satiety from regularly sipping on this brew. Along with the increased function the high quality nutrients in the good fats help your body to burn fat more effectively.

How to make your own..

Traditional frothy mix..

  • 1 cup of coffee (warm)
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablepoon high quality grass fed butter
  • (Add a bit of sweetness with vanilla or stevia)

Blend all ingredients together in a high speed blender for 20 seconds until all ingredients are well combined.

Mix it up a little.. iced chocolate bulletproof coffee

  • 1 cup of coffee (cold)
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 tablepoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon cacao
  • 2 natural dates

Blend all ingredients until well combined.
