Fitness nut, trainer and jump rope expert Jacqui Bell  fresh from the plane from a long stint as a Canggu local has your itinerary covered for the latest Bali healthy hang out spots, workouts and just cool things to do like a local. 



Crate Café Canggu – A concrete jungle serving up a storm! Yummy breakfast and lunch meals at great prices. Chia puddings, smoked salmon, avocado, halloumi – you name it they have it…and don’t forget the great coffee! Crate Café attracts them all – chances are you will spot a pro surfer, model or someone you know whilst brunching here.

Quince Café CangguFresh Organic breakfasts/lunches and a cute retail store attached.  Spinach, quinoa and feta fritters are to die for.

Wanderlust CrossFitthe largest crossFit box in Bali – Based in Canggu this place is sure to make you sweat – it even attracts the uber elite – the Reebok Australia CrossFit team spent a week training at this incredible gym.

Soham Wellness CentreSeminyak – Identifying oneself with the universe or the divine energy. This place really has it all – it isn’t just a gym it is an experience. From hardcore group fitness to yoga classes, an olympic swimming pool, healthy café, steam room and sauna room and also an indoor hot and cold pool for recovery routines. It is not to be missed.

Super Human Fitness – Functional Fitness – Parkour movements. A park our type workout for all levels. The Instructor introduced different elements to challenge you mentally as well as physically. There is a video on the website, link listed below from our session. At first glance it appears chaotic – poles, climbing walls, sponge pits etc. but it is very well run. A 2-2.5 hour workshop is the best intro option. It includes epic fitness, flips, turns, twists; the list goes on – group bookings available. Approx. $20 per person – located in Seminyak.


Yoga in Bali is unlike the westernised yoga – it moves away from the physical into a more meditative practice where people learn to go into their own headspace to try and still the fluctuations of their mind. This is achieved by various breathing techniques paired with appropriate poses. Where to go…

The ‘University of Yoga’ AKA The Practice Yoga Studio in Canggu is an experience like no other. You will practice amazing classes from the best and most knowledgeable teachers around – Octavio Salvador (Owner), Karina Guthrie and Jyoti Murray to name just a few. The Practice encompasses traditional yoga, restoration and meditation. Instead of ‘power yoga’ and ‘warrior flow’ the schedule is based around 3 different practices – Moon (meditation), Sun (breathing), Fire (inner practice)and also Yin Yoga (deep stretching).

The Yoga Barn – Ubud  This place is truly a yogi’s dream, as soon as you step foot into the shala you feel like you are in yoga heaven. Set in a beautiful location surrounded by rice paddies and away from the hustle and bustle. Over 15 classes a day, workshops, dance, meditation, ayurveda, detox, , healing ceremonies and a guesthouse are all in the one spot.

Experience Indo like a local

Day trip Hike to Mt Batur Volcano 

Mount Batur – best months are May – September to Hike. Pickup approx. 1 a.m. to reach the mountain by 3 a.m. Hike 2 hours to arrive at the summit by sunrise. Cost – approx. $50 per person. Packages can be organised as a whole day trip – Hike, hot springs, lunch, rice terraces etc.

Sunday Session at Single Fin – Uluwatu

A live DJ will be on deck every Sunday so be sure to party with your friends or book a booth to relax and watch the surfers at sunset. Enjoy a Bintang, Single Fin pizza or even a Nalu Bowl or Coco and Poke (Poke Bowl)…there is something for everyone.
